Coronavirus (COVID-19) Personal Preparedness Resources

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has become a global concern since its initial outbreak in Wuhan, China in late 2019. Because information related to the virus changes regularly, we are providing access to trusted resources to help you find the most current information and guidance for your family and your business.

General Health Preservation Tips

There is not currently a vaccine to protect against COVID-19. To help prevent the spread of this and other respiratory diseases, such as the flu, the most important thing you can do is practice everyday precautionary actions as suggested by the CDC and the Red Cross, including:

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others. Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.
  • Maintain good personal hygiene: Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly (for 20 seconds) and use hand sanitizers when soap and water are not readily available. Avoid touching your face.
  • If you are around others and do not have on your cloth face covering, remember to always cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow and do not spit.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are obviously sick, and stay home when you are sick.
  • Seek medical attention if you develop symptoms, especially fever or shortness of breath, and inform your health care provider if you’ve been in an area where the coronavirus is circulating.
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that are regularly touched, such as light switches, doorknobs, remote controls, computer keyboards and tablets, phones, and toys.
